A missing tooth can undermine both the appearance and the function of your smile.
At Legacy Dental Group in Birmingham, MI, our dentists restore missing teeth with complete dental implant treatment.
Why are we the best choice for implant dentistry in the greater Detroit area?
Dental implants are titanium posts that our dentists can surgically embed in your jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. The titanium in the implants is biocompatible, so over time the dental implant fuses with the bone tissue in a process known as osseointegration, making it a permanent part of your anatomy. Once the dental implant is firmly attached to your jawbone, our dentists can attach a crown, bridge, or denture to the implant using a small connector piece called an abutment. In this way, dental implants fully restore missing teeth, from the root to the crown.
If you are interested in restoring a missing tooth with a dental implant, we invite you to schedule a consultation with Legacy Dental Group in Birmingham, MI, today. During a consultation, our dentists will examine your bite and review your dental history to determine your candidacy for dental implants.
The doctors at Legacy Dental Group are uniquely qualified to provide your dental implant treatment. Our practice offers everything from the initial consultation to the final placement of your restoration. We work with a trusted lab to create high-quality restorations, and our commitment to continuing education means you can benefit from the latest implant technology.

Implants are direct replacements for lost tooth roots. We place and restore implants in our office, eliminating the need for inconvenient referrals.
The crowns, bridges, and dentures our dentists design for our dental implant patients perfectly resemble natural teeth. At the end of your treatment process, no one will know your smile is partly prosthetic.
Once your implant treatment is complete, your implant-supported restorations will be just as strong and usable as natural teeth. You'll be able to eat apples, rare steaks, and more of your favorite foods with ease.
Implants also protect the health of your jaw. When a tooth is missing, a natural process of bone loss occurs. Since an implant replaces the root of your tooth instead of just the crown, it prevents further bone loss. In fact, to a degree, it can spur regeneration of bone tissue.
Although your restoration may periodically need to be replaced, with proper care, your dental implants can last a lifetime and make replacing your prosthetic teeth much simpler.
At Legacy Dental Group, we offer both traditional and implant-supported dentures. In some cases, we can convert your traditional dentures into implant dentures held in place with two dental implants. This cost-saving method allows you to experience the benefits of implant-supported dentures without having to replace your existing restoration.
Legacy Dental is by far the most well-rounded, professional dental practice I have ever been to. Dr. Kim, Robin, Patty and the entire staff are wonderful. Legacy has the most modern equipment and they focus on the entire health of the patient. A+

Candidates for dental implant surgery must:
Our doctors evaluate each dental implant candidate to ensure their mouth can support this type of therapy. Sometimes, preparatory procedures are required to prepare the site of the missing tooth for a dental implant. Some of the common pre-implant procedures we perform at our office in Birmingham, MI, include:
A bone graft or other preparatory procedure will increase the overall success of your treatment. These procedures can make the difference between the success and failure of your implants.
Typically, dental implant treatment takes about six months. Most patients can expect a timeline similar to this:
The first step is a consultation, during which you and your doctor will discuss your goals and the different treatments we offer.
The next step is the dental implant surgery appointment, at which point your doctor will place one or more implants, depending on your needs.
Next, a healing period of about three to six months is required for the implant to properly fuse with the jawbone.
Once the implant has fully fused with the jawbone, your doctor attaches an abutment piece to the implant to connect the implant to a restoration.
A second healing period of a few weeks is required for your gums to heal around the abutment.
Once the gums have healed, our dentists will take a series of impressions. The impressions are sent to a lab, where a custom restoration is made and usually completed in about four weeks. Finally, the restoration is attached to the implant and adjusted to function harmoniously in your mouth.
In some cases, the doctors at Legacy Dental Group in Birmingham, MI, can offer a shortened treatment timeline using immediate-load implants. In these cases, the implant can be placed the same day as a tooth is extracted. If the stability of the implant is adequate, a provisional crown or bridge can also be placed at the same appointment. We will determine if this approach is appropriate for you.
